Automotive Gas Nigeria Services Limited has announced the 2025 Autogas Nigeria Annual CNG Conference, aimed at advancing a cleaner, more resilient, and inclusive energy future for Nigeria.
The conference scheduled for November 26 and 27 at the National Open University of Nigeria, Abuja, coincides with the commemoration of the 2025 World Sustainable Transport Day and is in partnership with the Federal University of Transportation, Daura.
Speaking during the press briefing on Monday in Abuja, Hajiya Maryam S. Ibrahim, Managing Director/CEO of Autogas Nigeria, said the theme, “CNG for All: Powering Nigeria’s Sustainable Future,” reflects the goal of expanding the benefits of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and sustainable transportation to citizens across all socio-economic levels.
Hajiya Ibrahim acknowledged the Federal Government of Nigeria, under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, for policies and reforms that have created momentum for gas adoption nationwide.
She noted that the collective efforts of agencies such as the Presidential CNG Initiative, the Nigerian Midstream & Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited have been central to this transformation.
The two-day conference will go beyond dialogue to practical implementation across the CNG value chain.
Day One opened with the official World Sustainable Transport Day commemoration, featuring high-level addresses from government leaders and industry regulators, as well as keynote presentations on cost, accessibility, infrastructure, and nationwide reach. Technical sessions will spotlight practical solutions such as Mobile Refueling Units and last-mile distribution models to make CNG widely available.
Day Two will feature a special address on “Empowering Nigerian Women with CNG” by the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs. The day will also explore policy reforms, regulatory frameworks, incentives for mass adoption, research breakthroughs, and the future of clean mobility, culminating in a national debate on “EV vs CNG” as Nigeria charts its pathway to sustainable transportation.
Mr. Kennedy Osagie, COO of Autogas Nigeria, said the conference is a national platform where collaboration meets opportunity and partnerships translate into economic growth.
He noted that aligning stakeholders across the entire value chain will deepen investment, expand local manufacturing, strengthen technical capacity, and open new avenues for jobs and enterprise development.
Representing the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Transportation, Daura, Katsina State, Adam Peter Ojobo highlighted plans for an autogas centre at the university to train students and produce skilled manpower to sustain Nigeria’s CNG industry.
He added that the programme would generate employment for youth and revenue for the federal government.
Chairman of the Autogas Technology, Research and Advisory Board, Professor Robinson Ejilah, emphasised the socio-economic impact of CNG adoption in Nigeria.
He highlighted that the conference would track policy performance in real life through a national perception survey, identifying gaps and ensuring the success of federal initiatives.
The conference, scheduled for November 26 and 27 at the National Open University of Nigeria, Abuja, is expected to bring together policymakers, investors, industry players, civil society, and academia to accelerate Nigeria’s transition to cleaner, cheaper, and more reliable energy solutions.
